Uni7y Music, Singapore, 20 September 2009 - After a 7-year hiatus, ChouPiJiang (CPJ) is back and set to revolutionise the way music is distributed.

 

 

With the unrelenting increase in online music downloads, record companies and music stores have seen drastic fall in profits from sale of music via the conventional media. During the last two decades, vinyl records and cassette tapes were made obsolete by the replacement of CDs. Will the CD follow suit in the near future?

After a 7-year hiatus, ChouPiJiang (CPJ) is back and set to revolutionise the way music is distributed.  CPJ will be one of the firsts in the local music industry to share their music via USB thumb-drives. Besides the two new singles, Now and This second, the 2GB USB thumb-drive will also contain music videos (of the songs?) and behind-the-scene footage. Created with convenience and easy access in mind, the thumb-drive can be attached to mobile phones, access passes, bags or clothes; CPJ fans can bring along their favourite CPJ music wherever they go. The remaining space in the thumb-drive can also be used as storage for other documents.

CPJ's latest EP, Now, maintains their signature Rap/Rock style. The lyrics, reflecting the life experiences of CPJ members over the past few years, describe the unfathomable changes in life and facing each day with unfailing optimism.

The second track, This second, further emphasises CPJ's never-say-die belief. Change is the only constant, and the only way to ride the changes is with unwavering confidence and their belief in miracles.

Another CPJ is the establishment of its own record label, aptly named “Uni7y Music”. Besides CPJ, three other artists are also under the management of Uni7y Music - “Rabbit”, champion of SuperBand 2008, Cubic Bottle and Wilson Wong. With this collaboration, the artists hope to work towards the goal of creating a niche for underground bands in Singapore.

Uni7y Music recently launched its official website, which acts as a platform for its artists and bands to share their songs online. Fans can enjoy free music downloads for a limited period and subsequently, continue to download songs for a small fee of S$0.99 each.

With the advent of new technology and the increasing popularity of online music downloads/sharing, recording companies are experiencing a global phenomenon of declining music sales. The future of music will soon be transformed. Uni7y Music is geared to be one of the pioneers in this transformation and to set a blazing trail towards this new revolution. 音乐产品的新改革

 

随着音乐、网路等科技的发达, 唱片工业开始没落,就如当年的卡带一样, 在不久的将来CD唱片业将会成为历史。沉寂已久的臭皮匠, 阔别上一张专辑作品至今长达7年, 一直以独立乐团的身份活跃在本地中文乐坛, 臭皮匠在音乐的道路上不想再走冤枉路。

所以这次发表的单曲有别于一般的CD包装形式, 臭皮匠将以创新的USB产品来呈现新作品。
这也是本地独立乐团的一项创举, 2GB容量的USB随身硬碟内容除了有两首新歌, 还有影像跟新歌的录制过程花絮, 硬碟的造型是一个吊带, 可吊挂在脖子上随身携带, 剩余的容量则可当作一般存档用途来使用。

 

单曲 <就是现在(我的精彩)> 维持臭皮匠一贯的饶舌摇滚曲风, 歌词内容描述人生变化无常, 唯有乐观对待每一天, 把握每个现在, 面对现实跟上改变的步伐, 说出臭皮匠团员们这几年的生活体验。

而<这一秒>是一首中版节奏的励志饶舌歌曲, 也同样强调积极的人生观, 勇敢面对挫折失败, 跌倒再爬起, 以坚持不放弃的人生态度创造生命的奇迹。

“有你的音乐” 本地乐团团结站起来

另外, 臭皮匠还成立了自己的音乐公司,公司取名为“有你的音乐”, 除了打理乐团本身的一切事务以外, 目前也与另外三组本地地下乐团合作, 其中包刮2008年SuperBand的冠军“兔子”和音乐曲风清新的“Cubic Bottle”, 大家互相扶持协助,希望本地地下音乐能够团结走出自己的一片天。

“有你的音乐”主要扮演音乐网站平台。公司的艺人会不断把新作品上传供网友在有限期内免费下载, 而在有限期后则以每首歌$0.99的价格售卖。在音乐市场不景气的年代, CD唱片的销售量已经变成音乐人的负担, 加上网路的方便使得音乐随手可得, 唱片公司的经营方式也已经慢慢在改变。

有如当年CD席卷而来把卡带一夜间淘汰掉一样, 科技不断地进步, 跟不上步伐的难逃现实的残酷。借此, 臭皮匠希望藉由这个方式跟时代并进, 也希望所有热爱音乐的本地乐团不要放弃, “只要有我的,就有你的音乐!”  m
