Singapore Music Portal

musicians.com.sg is all about music, music-related services and musicians in Singapore.

musicians.com.sg's mission is to organize information about the Singapore Music Community to make it useful and relevant to all.

Founded in 2006, musicians.com.sg's first step towards this goal has been ongoing creation of Singapore's most comprehensive database on music and musicians in Singapore.

When you visit musicians.com.sg, you'll be able to find information regarding the musical community in Singapore; check up on the latest musical happenings, events, and news headlines; lookup our listings for musicians and music in Singapore; interact and post discussions on our forums and noticeboards.

With our aim of promoting the music in and of Singapore, musicians.com.sg offers most of our online services on a free to use basis and charges only for consultation and other premium services.

People who want to make use of this unique platform to advertise to a targeted audience can make use of our various marketing solutions to reach a crowd of music lovers.

musicians.com.sg is first and foremost, a company for music-loving people by music-loving people in Singapore.

Eschewing the model where social endeavours are exclusively dependent on the public subsidies for the promotion of music in and of Singapore, musicians.com.sg is a privately financed company which seeks to find a profit-making model which allows it to accomplish the much necessary work of music promotion in Singapore.

As a company, a need for survival means that we are committed to meeting the needs of our clients and are dedicated to working with them to further their aims.

HONG JUNYANG ALIEN 洪俊扬 Reviewer (Chinese Popular Music)

Reviewer

Leong Wei Shin is currently a lecturer with the National Institute of Education (NIE). He had served as Music teacher and Assistant Boarding Master at his alma mater, Raffles Institution after obtaining his BA (Hons) in Music and Mathematics with NIE-NTU. He was later appointed as the Head (Aesthetics) where he spearheaded the development of a 6-year art and music curriculum in the Raffles Schools.

Prior to joining NIE, he was the Unit Coordinator of the Music Unit, Curriculum Planning and Development Division  where he anchored the review of Art and Music Music Elective Programme and 'O'/'A' Level Music syllabuses, amongst other music curriculum development work. He completed his Master of Education with NIE and Master of Music with Northwestern University in 2006, where he undertook research involving assessment of music compositions, cognition and applied statistics. His initial research work in the psychobiological approach in assessment of creative works was presented at the International Society of Music Education Conference in 2006. Wei Shin was the recipient of MOE Undergraduate Scholarship and MOE Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship.

Wei Shin is continuing in his journey to explore the ambiguities and complexities involve in the identification and assessing of students' attainment of specific learning outcomes, especially with regard to what may be considered as "creative" or "not-so-creative" achievements. He considers music review as an important work for musicians (and therefore should be undertaken by musicians at some point of their career), while continuing to play the piano, clarinet, sing and solve mathematical puzzles.

CHEW YEE KIAT Associate Reviewer (English Popular Music)

Chew Yee Kiat is currently studying in the National University of Singapore, pursuing a double major in Economics and New Media. An aspiring journalist, his passions are writing, talking to people and of course, music.  Yee Kiat plays the bass guitar (and sometimes the guitar)  in a band, and has performed in various gigs and competitions, gaining invaluable stage experiences.

Yee Kiat’s interest in music spans a wide range - from the classics of the 50’s to the current top 40s. He is also very interested in the local band scene and supports the bands’ live performances whenever he can. He hopes that through his writing, these local bands would gain more exposure so that more people can enjoy their music.

HOR XINRONG Associate Reviewer

Hor Xinrong first experienced choral music and singing when he joined the River Valley High School Choir whilst in secondary school. The self confessed choral music addict graduated from the National University of Singapore with an Honours degree in Geography and a Minor in Religious Studies. He has been and is an active choral performer with various choirs in Singapore including the Singapore Symphony Chorus and The Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

A Tenor with The Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Xinrong loves Renaissance sacred music and a cappella choral works by Poulenc. He hopes to develop his research interests in the geographies of religion and music.
